Square Enix has thrown out an absolute ton of Final Fantasy announcements this week. It’s almost scary. I audibly gasped at one at the very least. One made me beam with joy. In this article I’ll cover each and every one.
NINTENDO SWITCH
- FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition – launching 2019 with full co-op and new areas in dungeons!
- Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon EVERY BUDDY! – I don’t even know what this is but it’s coming this Winter, very cute art style.
- FINAL FANTASY VII – the villain behind the audible gasp. FF7 on a Nintendo console in 2019. 90s console warriors everywhere screamed in agony.
- FINAL FANTASY IX – Another classic returns in new portable fashion in 2019.
- FINAL FANTASY X / X-2 HD Remaster – Play Blitzball anywhere, anytime in 2019!
- FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE – Released this year on PS4, the remaster makes its way to a Nintendo platform for the first time next year.
- FINAL FANTASY XV POCKET EDITION HD – out right now and featuring the entire story of FF15!
- WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY MAXIMA – the culprit behind the beam of delight. I loved World of Final Fantasy on Vita. More is greatly appreciated.
XBOX ONE
- FINAL FANTASY VII – A sign of things to come?
- FINAL FANTASY IX – Join Zidane on an Xbox for the first time.
- FINAL FANTASY X / X-2 HD Remaster – Tidus also makes his way to the green side.
- FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE – Formerly a PS2 exclusive, now the truest of multiplatform games.
- FINAL FANTASY XV POCKET EDITION HD – Quite literally the cutest way to experience Noctis’ quest.
- WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY MAXIMA – November 6th for a love letter to Final Fantasy history!
PLAYSTATION 4 – pretty much covered these above but the love affair between Square and PlayStation continues onward…
- FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition
- Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon EVERY BUDDY!
- FINAL FANTASY XV POCKET EDITION HD
- WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY MAXIMA
PC
- WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY MAXIMA – It’s nice that PC gamers get a little bit of fun as well.
For Xbox and Nintendo fans this is pretty incredible. Despite the vast majority of these games being at least a decade old, some double that, they’ve never featured on those platforms. It’s a true statement of intent from Square Enix towards their back catalog. Hopefully, Kingdom Hearts is next! I’ll be picking up a handful of these titles, what about you?
