What a stupid name. No idea why a 4 wasn’t good enough. Especially considering Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is still the game that revolutionized and repopularized the franchise. But here you go, everything that Activision has revealed about the juggernaut FPS franchise’s latest entry in one handy spot:
When can I play it?
October 12th 2018
What modes does the game have?
The game has a strong variety of modes. There’s the solo mission mode, a more in depth Zombies mode and for the first time in a Call of Duty game, a Battle Royale mode. We’ll start alphabetically.
Of course the gaming industry’s best selling franchise is embracing the most popular mode in the current industry. With the massive success of Fortnite and Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds it should be no surprise that the bandwagon is being well and truly jumped on by Activision here. Named Blackout the mode features a map 1500 times larger than any other COD maps. Weapons and characters from all of the Black Ops titles will be featured as well as areas from previous multiplayer maps in the series. We here at thelootgaming actually revealed this in a previous article!
The campaign is Black Ops IIII is far from traditional. The game is going to feature solo missions where you play as unique characters known as specialists. The game allows you to familiarize yourself with these characters and explore their backstory and lore. Essentially this is a practice mode for the campaign.
Surprise, COD has multiplayer! Not a surprise? Fair enough. The trailer had quite strong Overwatch vibes. This makes a lot of sense considering both FPS giants share a publisher. There’s a strong focus on the specialists from the solo missions but the gameplay is much more grounded than previous games. Touted as ‘boots on the ground’ BO4 returns to much more traditional COD gameplay.
The Titanic. A Roman Colosseum. I’m sold. Zombies is getting crazy this year. Featuring three maps at launch, difficulty levels, tutorials, challenges and with more to be announced this is the biggest zombies mode yet. Map One is Xi, a colosseum themed map featuring melee only combat. Numero dos is Voyage of the Damned, set on the Titanic. The third is Blood of the Dead. It’s going to be a reimagining of a fan favorite map.
There we have it folks. A round up of all the Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII news. Is no campaign a killer for you? Is Battle Royale mode enough to hook you? Let us know in the comments below!
