Okami HD For Switch Gets A Release Date

Featured News Nintendo

The HD port of Okami from Capcom will paint itself across the Nintendo Switch on August 9th in Japan. With region free consoles, that means you can get it on that date. The game is slated for a western release but no date has been set, more than likely an announcement is imminent.

For those unfamiliar with this beautiful water colored classic, Okami was originally released in 2006 on the PlayStation 2 home console. The game was developed by now defunct Clover Studios (many of which work at Platinum Games now) and published by Capcom. The game really skyrocketed in popularity when it was ported to the Nintendo Wii in 2008, taking advantage of the console’s revolutionary motion controls. The game has since been ported everywhere with the most recent being in 2017 for both the PS4 and Xbox One.

The story follows the player taking on white wolf goddess Amaterasu who wields the celestial brush to defeat enemies, solve puzzles and save the world. The game uses the beautiful Japanese folklore and mythology to tell a fantastic story with a diverse group of unique characters.
