Overwatch League Season 2 expands the team count

Featured Multi-platform News

Recent Overwatch league news has emerged that 2 new teams will be joining the line-up for season 2, putting the total number up from 12 to 14.

Atlanta and Guangzhou enter the battle

The first of the new additions is an Atlanta franchise which will be owned by Cox Enterprises, a communications media, and automotive services giant.

The second will be a second franchise from China in the form of Guangzhou, owned by the Nenking group, a financial and entertainment giant. They join the Shanghai dragons as the second team from the country.

Rosters and official team names are to be announced at a later date.

More to come?

Rumours are rife that these won’t be the only additions to season 2 of the massively popular eSport. 2 European teams in the form Paris and Berlin are rumoured to be announced soon, which you can argue is much needed given how currently European fans only have the current champions London Spitfire to cheer for, in addition to probably another North American franchise and another Asian franchise. This would take the total teams up to 18 for season 2.
