THQ Nordic, once known as Nordic Games, has made a lot of moves since revamping its name and purchasing old THQ IPs. The latest move from them is the announcement that they will be releasing a Remastered version of the popular Red Faction franchise with Guerrilla being the chosen title, comically titled: Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered Edition. The chosen platforms are Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with hope of a Q2 2018 release planned. No news on a potential Switch version.
What can you expect in this Remaster? I got you covered. The graphics have been revamped with reworked textures and new graphic features, specular maps was given as an example. Shadows and lightning has been improved. Shaders and post processing have been reworked, and all of this will be wrapped in slowly becoming standard 4K resolution.
A little about the story. The game takes place fifty years after the original Red Faction. In Guerrilla you play as an insurgent fighter who is trying to stop the tyrannical and oppressive Earth Defense Force. You’ll enjoy an epic sci-fi open world warfare adventure with destructible environments and an impressive physics system. With an emphasis on strategic gameplay, you must also be ready to adapt and evolve on the fly as tactics and decisions impact gameplay through the use of that destruction and physics engine. For the social, there is a multiplayer element with various modes to enjoy.
