State of Decay 2 receives UK price cut

Articles Featured Xbox

The price of upcoming Xbox One console exclusive State of Decay 2 has received a major price cut in the UK.

Neither Microsoft or the developer, Undead Labs have offered comment on this yet or explained whether or not it will be dropped below the standard $60/£50 AAA price point worldwide.

The new price is half of this in the UK right now, £24.99, at the countries two largest online video game retailers; Game Digital and Amazon. These companies offer schemes that protect your preorder’s price point, therefore if this turns out to be an error they will uphold the price you preordered at. Due to this it seems like quite a big error for two companies this size to make. Enclosed are screenshots of the prices taken today and a confirmation email of my order from Amazon at that price. The game has been slated as a Spring 2018 release, with Spring beginning this week we should be due more information on the Co-op zombie sequel.

The original game was single player only, so the sequel’s expanded scope should see a bigger playerbase. The game also had two paid DLC packs, the sequel could see a similar model. A reduced price point and availability through the Xbox Game Pass program would guarantee a strong multiplayer community. State of Decay was well received by critics, fans have high hopes for the next game in the series and will hopefully see those hopes realised with more information soon.
