Apex Construct gets Brand New Mode!

Developers giving continuous and free support to their games is something that I believe it’s incredibly special in 2018. Keep a community engaged and giving them constant value for their money is a very impressive achievement.

That’s why Fast Travel Game’s new update to their VR title Apex Construct is so refreshing to me. This is not a huge multiplayer AAA title with large financial backing. This is a high quality VR experience from a passionate team and the game’s Cygnia Cup Challenge’ mode proves that. The mode has just released on via Steam and Oculus and will be coming to PSVR later this month (June).

The mode is accessible from the main menu so players will be able to jump in immediately. Players will be inside an arena separate from the main story where they will take part in various combat challenges all with the added bonus of competing on worldwide leaderboards. It is a very interesting addition to a game that previously only featured a single player campaign (a brilliant one at that) that adds varied extra content in an unexpected manner. Even more intriguing is the fact that your progress in this mode has benefits in the story mode! Here is everything the mode contains straight from the developers:

  • Fight in 6 locations in the arena, each with escalating difficulty levels.

  • Take out shooting targets and enemies quickly to keep the combo meter up!

  • Avoid getting shot by Mothr’s attacking bots. If you die, the challenge is over.

  • Use your wits (and your different arrow types…) to reach the highest score.

  • Earn your place on the global leaderboards.

  • Participating in Cygnia Cup Challenge also earns you RP which you can spend on upgrades or consumables in the campaign.

I’ve played a lot of Apex Construct recently, and as I said in my review, I think it is an absolute must have title for PSVR owners. This new content will help to further justify this claim.
