Raiders of The Broken Planet is a multiplayer/co-op focused shooter that has players face off in a 4v1 format where a team of four starts a mission and a fifth player can jump in to play with the opposing AI against them. The game setting is a world 25 light years from Earth with a core that naturally produces an energy called “Aleph” and, naturally, everyone wants it. There are greedy generals, teams of mercenaries, entire armies after it while there is also the Raiders trying to work with the indigenous people on the world dealing with the entire mess.
Raiders is a mix of run-and-gun and cover based action with teams working together to accomplish objectives while fighting off enemy hordes. There seems to be a bit of a Borderlands/Mad Max style to the game’s setting and artwork, which is always welcome in my book. There are multiple factions with different motivations and a diverse cast of characters for the player to choose from. Each character has unique abilities and weapons to choose from and cater to the player’s play style.
The prologue to the game is free to download on Steam, the Xbox Store, and the PlayStation Store. The game is broken up into seasons and the first campaign of the 2017 season, “Alien Myths”, is available for $9.99 or the player can buy in to the Founders Pack for $39.99 which gives access to all of the campaigns as they release.
Be sure to check it out on the official website.
