Call of Cthulhu’s newest gameplay trailer shows off the beautifully creepy Lovecraftian world

Focus Home Interactive’s Call of Cthulhu is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on the (second) spookiest day of the year, October 30th. That means you’ll be able to spend your Halloween weekend exploring the wondrous and terrifying area of Darkwater. Playing as Private Investigator Edward Pierce you’ll have a slew of upgradeable skills in your arsenal as you delve deep into a mystery of cults, conspiracy and the Old Ones of Lovecraftian lore. The best way to find out exactly what you’ll be up to in Darkwater is to watch this brand new gameplay trailer:

You’ll have Strength on your side for those situations that it’s absolutely necessary, and it will be in this hostile environment. You won’t have many allies in Darkwater. Luckily your Strength will work to intimidate some of those residents. You’ll also have to use your expertise in Psychology to analyse those residents. Certain books and artifacts will fill in your knowledge about the cultic practices of the area. Edward can Spot Hidden objects and Investigate to find clues and unlock more branching dialogue options. You’ll have to find a way to ensure that your knowledge doesn’t tip over into madness. Insanity is always closing in on Edward.
