Code Vein Gets New Trailer and Release Date

When Demon’s Souls launched back in 2009, I don’t think anyone believed it would launch a genre but it seemingly has. From a spiritual successor in Dark Souls to games that have modified the formula to success, like Nioh, and to less than stellar games like the unfortunately underwhelming Lords Of The Fallen. There have even been some indie games that have used the formula to create unique experiences like Salt And Sanctuary. One entry that has been on everyone’s radar has been Bandai Namco’s unique Code Vein.

We now have a release date for this peculiar Code Vein and it will launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 27th 2018, with PC players getting the game on the 28th, a day later.

Visually, the game is similar to anime in looks but the gameplay is definitely Dark Souls inspired. One of the unique things it does to the formula is utilizing a partner system in which NPCs with their own abilities and personalities can accompany the player and aid them in battle. It’s an interesting take and has caused a lot of intrigue from fans of the Souls series.

For those who don’t know, the story has the player in a post-apocalyptic world where vampires are the only survivors and these living dead beings that wield powerful weapons and have supernatural abilities need blood to feed on. You get this blood by feeding on the monsters roaming the world and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of story these developers tell.
