Capcom made the surprise announcement on Twitter that the original Devil May Cry would be coming to the Nintendo Switch this summer. It was an announcement not many were expecting but it is an announcement that could lead to some rather interesting potential opportunities.

This marks the first time the series comes to a Nintendo platform and makes it possible for the series to slowly trickle on over to the hybrid console. With Devil May Cry V just releasing to rave reviews, it would be nice to eventually take the entire series on the go.
An even more interesting potential opportunity is that Dante may now have an actual chance to make an appearance in Nintendo’s massive fighting game: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If you remember, Hideaki Itsuno, mentioned he would love to have Dante make an appearance in Smash, but only after he had a game on Nintendo’s console. The stars have seemingly aligned.
If for some reason, you’re unfamiliar with Devil May Cry, it was originally slated to be Resident Evil 4 but the game director at the time, Hideki Kamiya, took such a drastic departure that it became its own entity. The game follows Dante on an island exploring a castle in hopes of preventing the resurrection of Mundus, the demon who murdered his family.
Now, Capcom did not mention pricing or an official release date but if you recently just played DMC V and don’t care about portability, you can find the series cheaper on other consoles with the other two entries, as part of the HD Collection.
