E3 2018: Microsoft splash the cash on multiple critically acclaimed studio acquisitions

Microsoft have really shown a desire to expand their game development by purchasing several new studios. One of these is Ninja Theory, developer of the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Also brought under the Microsoft Studio’s banner is Playground Games; developer of Forza Horizon, Undead Labs; of State of Decay fame, Compulsion Games; developer of We Happy Few and a brand new studio; fittingly named The Initiative.

The Playground Games new was entirely expected. However, the rest remained a total surprise and are a fantastic showing of Microsoft’s commitment to the gaming community. We also learned that We Happy Few launches August 10th 2018.
