Tongues or even fingers have been working overtime on social media since the unexpected Tweet, about Splinter Cell, put out on Tuesday evening (UK timing) by Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Ubisoft.
As you can see from the screenshot above, the Tweet states that he is meeting with fellow Directors from Ubisoft Dan Haynow and Rob Camor, and they are working on the NEXT SPLINTER CELL!
News that all gamers, including myself, have been longing to hear that the iconic Splinter Cell may very well be coming to this console generation very shortly, or it could even be an announcement for the forthcoming console generation.
Unfortunately, all the info is rather sketchy and from the tweet, it looks like it could be possibly revealed at the upcoming E3, but I can say for myself this bit of news makes me very excited indeed.
However, a Ubisoft rep told PC Gamer it was just a joke;
“Julian was obviously joking as Julian likes to do. It looks like our creative directors are having fun right now. We do not have any announcements to make at this time.”
Could this be really a joke? The tweet hasn’t been deleted yet, making the situation even more confusing.
Maybe it is a marketing move? It reminds me of that time Sam Fisher entered the Wildlands.
Nothing is certain, only time will tell. Meanwhile, keep an eye right here and we will update you as more news come to light.
