Nintendo of Japan has announced that a new entry to their beloved Mario Kart franchise will be releasing in 2019. However, this new title isn’t scheduled for a console release but will instead be the first release on mobile. It is estimated to be released sometime on or before March and is titled Mario Kart Tour.
This will mark the fourth time Nintendo has released a prominent franchise on mobile devices behind the well-received Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and the recently released Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Mobile experiences, the most popular and financially effective, are those involving a heavy multiplayer presences and there is hardly a better choice for Nintendo.
The last Mario Kart to be released was the critically acclaimed Mario Kart 8 released for Wii U in 2014 and later ported to Nintendo Switch in 2017.
