In my opinion, people who make video games are genuine Gods. They take computers and various bits of technology and create these incredible experiences for the world to enjoy. It might as well be magic. It’s hard to forget that it isn’t, that in fact, there are amazingly talented real-life human beings behind the wondrous creations that make their way to your screen. Of course, being human, they have human problems. Australia based SMG studios; creators of co-op title Death Squared, one of my favorite puzzle games, have decided to share one of those human problems. Namely: customer complaints:
Ohhh a business opportunity! I better read this emai…. oh sneaky pic.twitter.com/dBPE55WzA4

Someone out there has taken the time to craft this ‘wonderful’ complaint.
Note the use of the ‘BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY’ subject line to first grab attention before the follow-up that can only be described as a tirade of abuse. It speaks a lot to how much video games mean to people, that they can inspire strong reactions both negative and as we too often forget, positive. Luckily SMG saw the funny side and even say they’ve had much worse emails. This got me thinking, is it common? In the age of social media where you’re never further than a search bar from pretty much every other human, do people still direct these huge exaggerated complaints to email inboxes? I’d love if other developers could share some of their highlights, it’s a fascinating insight into the other side of this industry!
