This tweet from Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi, where he calls the animation in The Last of Us Part II fake, has since been deleted.
The game was shown during Sony’s E3 press conference and it looked absolutely incredible. Given the similarities between Naughty Dog’s flagship Uncharted franchise and the Tomb Raider game that Eidos Montreal are currently working on, you’d expect a mutual respect between these two studios and their employees.
It’s since deleted, but the studio head of Shadow of The Tomb Raider just accused the animation of our The Last of Us Part II demo of being fake. C’est trop délicieux! pic.twitter.com/NsU0ZikPlS

This was Naughty Dog animator Jonathan Cooper’s reaction, claiming that the accusation was delicious. Clearly Naughty Dog are enjoying the envy they must be receiving from all over the industry. Anfossi has since apologized, blaming the language barrier for a mistranslation of what he meant as he is a native French speaker. To round this article off I’ll include a video from the recent E3 coliseum interview which discusses the new animation engine built specifically for the sequel to the best game on PS3.
