U.S Navy sailors will soon be able to control The Virginia-class submarines using Xbox controllers. Yes, you heard me right. The periscopes on the subs can rotate a full 360 degrees and the joysticks that the navy are using aren’t making it very easy to use. Lockheed Martin has been experimented with a couple of substitutions like multi-touch tablets, Google Earth, and even the Xbox Kinect. Sailors aboard the ship had suggested using a videogame controller which saves the Navy $38,000 from the equipment their using now.
The Navy has already transitioned into new age technology by using VR headsets to train sailors and using drones and 3-D printers. Some sailors have their own personal laptops on board as well. Technology is constantly growing around us and its only going to keep expanding.
