Akihiro Hino, the CEO and president of Level-5, has made the company plans public and clear: 2018 and beyond will have an emphasis on Switch support. Level-5 has found tremendous success on Nintendo platforms so this announcement comes to no surprise. The question now becomes: what will the company be releasing for Nintendo’s hybrid console? The one game we know for sure is the recently announced Yo-Kai Watch 4.
Yo-Kai Watch 4 has officially been announced for the Nintendo Switch in Japan. No word for a release outside of Japan but they have doubled down on it releasing in 2018. The CEO has expressed that fans should be excited for the upcoming release because this new entry will have “mechanics that surprise everyone” and he went as far as to say it will feature “super extremely enhanced” content. Yo-Kai Watch 4 is going to be redefining for the series and may be the entry that helps it to gain the mainstream popularity it does deserve. In Japan, Yo-Kai Watch is huge.
[Preview of what the franchise is]
For those that are curious, Yo-Kai Watch and all three versions of its sequel have been released on 3DS but the 3rd titled entry remains in Japan only. I would expect it to be brought over as well or, perhaps, all of them will be enhanced for Switch. Only time will tell.
But what do you all think? Excited for Yo-Kai Watch 4? Think it can compete with Pokémon Switch?
