What Is Resident Evil Teasing?

As a former Raccoon City survivor, it’s well documented that the Resident Evil franchise holds a special place in my heart. It is one of, if not, my favorite series of all time. I’ve even enjoyed the questionable entries in the series.
2017 saw the franchise see a resurgence of sorts with the release of the radically different Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The game receive awesome downloadable content, some of which expanded the story and other smaller add ons. It even had a version crafted for virtual reality. Capcom also used the tail end of 2017 to release a Gold edition of RE7, which included all the DLC, and they ported Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 to the Nintendo Switch.

Interestingly enough, on the Japanese Twitter page of Resident Evil, the banner shows four images. Going from right to left, it displays Resident Evil Revelations 2, Resident Evil Revelations 1, and Resident Evil 7. The fourth spot is curiously left blank, which may be hinting at an impending announcement for what’s next in the series as the games are in release order (The Resident Evil 7 art chosen is the Gold edition released in December).

The question now becomes: what is next for the franchise? Remember Resident Evil 2: Remake was announced three years ago in 2015 and very little has been said regarding its development. If I had to guess, be on the look out for some details as nothing is left, or seemingly in development, in the franchise to distract from more details in this highly anticipated release.
